La Région

Situé dans la région historique de la Gascogne, le Gers (32) se reconnait à ses collines arrondies, ses mosaïques de tournesols, maïs, vignobles et crêtes boisées, parsemé de villages moyenâgeux, de bastides et de forteresses.

Pyrénées

Délimité par la rivière de la Garonne au nord et par la chaine des Pyrénées au sud. Réputé pour ses Armagnacs, son foie gras, la beauté de ses paysages, la pureté de l’air et … d’Artagnan, le fameux mousquetaire !

Peu peuplé, le Gers est une région agricole où l’été commence tôt et où l’automne peine à venir. Conduire d’un village à l’autre, en empruntant des routes peu fréquentées, longeant vignes, champs de tournesols et de maïs, survolés parfois de buses et autre petits rapaces, est une expérience dont nul ne se lasse.

Et bien que d’esprit tranquille, cette région agricole, découverte assez récemment, propose de multiples activités à ses habitants et visiteurs, de nature variée, mais avec une constante, le partage d’un repas, de préférence en plein air.

Ville de Condom

Au 9e siècle la ville de Condom devint un bastion ecclésiastique, ayant survécu à de nombreux virements de fortune à l’époque médiévale. Dix siècles plus tard la ville fut un centre majeur du commerce de l’armagnac grâce à sa rivière navigable, qui attire de nos jours les bateaux de plaisance.

Aujourd’hui, avec une population d’environ 7000 habitants, la ville connaît un regain de popularité grâce à ses beaux immeubles de pierre, sa cathédrale gothique, ses boutiques et ses restaurants. Les villages culturels de La Romieu et de Lectoure, se trouvent à proximité.

Culture et histoire dans le Gers

La région est riche en culture et en histoire ; ses diverses activités attirent de nombreux touristes « verts »(randonnées, balade à bicyclette, équitation, chasse et golf) ainsi que les pèlerins sur la route de Saint Jacques de Compostelle qui traverse le paysage.

Les grandes villes les plus proches de Condom sont AUCH et AGEN, les agglomérations de Bordeaux et Toulouse offrent des aéroports internationaux, des gares TGV et de nombreuses opportunités culturelles et commerciales.
